Breweries in Charlotte supporting a great cause.

Combine your love of beer with community support by visiting these local breweries

What could be better than enjoying a pint of craft beer while simultaneously serving your community? That’s exactly what the Charlotte Independent Brewers Alliance (CIBA) offers. This group is committed to boosting locally brewed beer and cider, as well as the passionate artisans behind them. CIBA is exclusively for independent brewers and cider makers that exclusively sell beer and cider produced in Mecklenburg County, NC, and the surrounding counties.

The impact CIBA has on the local scene is incredible. Here’s a taste of their impact stats, available on the official CIBA website:

  • Generated 637 jobs: “Each local brew you buy supports our neighbors with roles in the manufacturing and service industries.”
  • $22M in salaries: “Having beer that is produced and sold here results in 90% of each dollar remaining in NC. This local support keeps more money in our community.”
  • $524,000 in donations: “In 2019, members of CIBA gave back with over $500,000 in cash, products, and event space donations to charities and non-profits.”

In addition to these impressive figures, CIBA champions the advancement of the local brewing community, deriving positive influences on local charities and community organizations, and encourages lobbying for progressive changes in NC laws for the good of the state’s craft brewing industry.

Interesting, isn’t it? So, which breweries are part of this impressive alliance? Luckily for the residents of Mallard Creek apartments, various member breweries are conveniently located near home. The alliance includes over 44 breweries, each as inspiring as the next – here are a few we particularly love:

  • Birdsong Brewing – The third oldest brewery in Charlotte and a pioneer in solar power, with a 75-kilowatt array installed on the roof in 2018. Address: 1016 N. Davidson Street, Charlotte, NC 28205
  • Devil’s Logic Brewing – This welcoming brewery offers something for every tastebud and also serves up some tasty food. Address: 1426 E 4th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204
  • Lost Worlds Brewing – Known for its approachable beers, the brewery provides an environment that ignites exploration and adventure – thanks to their curated collection of maps and artifacts. Address: 19700-D One Norman Blvd., Cornelius, NC 28031
  • Midnight Mulligan Brewing – A recent addition to the alliance, this craft brewery is a sure hit for fans of hoppy beers and sour ales. Address: 2215 Thrift Road, Unit A, Charlotte, NC 28208
  • Summit Seltzer – Not only the pioneer seltzer in Charlotte but also the first on the East Coast. They offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Address: 2215 Thrift Rd. Suite B, Charlotte, NC 28208

Whether you’re a fan of IPAs, stouts, ciders, or seltzers, there’s a brewery or cidery near our Mallard Creek apartments waiting to be discovered. Check out the full list of CIBA’s associated breweries on their website and choose which one to go to after taking a tour of Greenway at Mallard Creek.
